i have bumps up my thigh. i have had them since i was a baby (my mother told me) they feel like acne and look like over larged goose bumps. they are skin color and they dont itch. They dont bug me but i just wanna know what they are.
What are these bumps?
It sounds like Keratosis Pilaris (KP) is a very common genetic skin condition (hair follicles) often compared to goose bumps and chicken skin. You can see it on arms, face (cheeks), thighs and buttocks ( any body part except palms or soles). There are several different types of keratosis pilaris:
keratosis pilaris rubra (red inflamed and irritated bumps)
keratosis pilaris alba (rough bumpy skin with no irritation)
keratosis pilaris rubra faceii (red/pink rash on the cheeks)
Doctors normaly recomend the usage of urea and lactic acid creams and lotions to soften the bumps (Betamide lotion,
Am-Lactin XL this are some over the counter medicated lotion and creams that can help)....this normaly help...but If it doesn't, I have seen Atopiclair (a priscription) can also help...You may go to your local dermatologis for that prescription....Good Luck!!!!
