Is this a skin disease?

i get little bumps on my face and arms, they look a little like goose bumps except i always have them. i dont think its normal because none of my friends have them. I've had them since when i was about 8 years old. what is this and is there something i can use to get rid of them?

Is this a skin disease?
go to the doctors.. and dont paste this in "beauty and style" skin section of answers, go to the health section!
Reply:Keratosis pilaris is a skin condition commonly seen on the upper arms, buttocks and thighs. The skin cells that normally flake off as a fine dust from the skin form plugs in the hair follicles. These appear as small pimples that have a dry ''sandpaper'' feeling. They are usually white but sometimes rather red. They usually don't itch or hurt.

Keratosis pilaris is particularly common in teenagers on the upper arms. It may occur in babies where it tends to be most obvious on the cheeks. It may remain for years but generally gradually disappears usually before age 30. Keratosis pilaris is unsightly but completely harmless. It is usually worse during the winter months or other times of low humidity when skin dries out, and may worsen during pregnancy or after childbirth.

Treatment of keratosis pilaris is not necessary, and unfortunately often has disappointing results. With persistence, most people can get very satisfactory improvement. Initial treatment should be intensive moisturizing. Try a cream such as Acid mantle, Vaseline or Complex 15 after bathing, and re-apply the cream again several times daily.

If this does not help, change to a medicated cream containing urea (Carmol, Vanomide, U-Kera, Ultra Mide, Nutraplus) or alpha-hydroxy acids (Aqua Glycolic, Lacticare) applied twice daily - it may be too irritating to use more often. More aggressive home treatment can be done if ones skin can tolerate it. The plugged pores can be removed by taking long, hot soaking tub baths and then rubbing the areas with a coarse washcloth, stiff brush, or 'Buf-Puf'.

Prescription medicines that may help include antibiotics (Erythromycin, Bactrim) if the spots are very red and Tazorac Cream. Tazorac, a relative of vitamin A, may cause irritation in some people.
Reply:It might be eczema.

Go to the doctor, that's the best thing.
Reply:tell a doctor he will help
Reply:Don't just go to the doctor; go to the dermatologist instead. Because they specialize in skin, they will be able to help you with a lot more expertise.

Why does my husband have red bumps on his stomach and upper legs?

he works in a place that has no a/c and he wants to know what he can do to fix this problem. He has very sensitive skin due to a skin disorder.

Why does my husband have red bumps on his stomach and upper legs?
It sounds like a heat rash. A steroid cream should alleviate his symptoms if this is the problem.
Reply:sounds like a heat rash, have him put powder(corn starch based) on in the mornings that should help
Reply:heat rash.... wear looser clothes or it could be new laundry detergent that he may be allergic
Reply:It is most likely a heat rash. If it is wear his clothes are tightest and not allowing the skin to cool, this is your culprit. Most likely. Could possibly be hives, i get them when I am super stressed...either way they will go away on their own. Use lotion to soothe, and try to wear looser clothes that breathe better like cotton.
Reply:Might be a heat issue especially since he has very sensitive skin. I was thinking a talcum powder of some sort to keep his skin dry, but you may want to check with a doctor since he does have such sensitive skin.
Reply:My cousin has the same problem and we think its allergies or flea bites from his cat because he sleeps with him.
Reply:Sounds like it could be a heat rash.

Get him to wear all cotton, especially next to his skin.

Calamine cream may help.
Reply:Heat rash more than likely.

What to Do

The best treatment for heat rash is to provide a cooler, less humid environment. Keep the affected area dry. Dusting powder may be used to increase comfort, but avoid using ointments or creams-they keep the skin warm and moist and may make the condition worse.

Treating heat rash is simple and usually does not require medical assistance. Other heat-related problems can be much more severe.

He probably can't get into a cooler environment for work, but try and wear 100% cotton clothing since it breathes well; synthetic fabrics will just keep the heat and sweat in. He may also want to check out a sporting goods store and buy clothing that's meant to wick away moisture.

I've also heard good things about using Gold Bond powder to prevent heat rash.
Reply:its heat bumps!
Reply:It sounds like a heat rash to me. My fiance has the same problem when his skin gets too hot and gets no cool air. Maybe he is wearing too tight pants and not allowing air to get through to breathe. Maybe part of his skin disorder is part of the problem too or maybe he is having an allergic reaction to something. I would tell him like I told my fiance wear looser jeans and a looser t-shirt to let his skin breath. He also puts on hydrocortizone creme all the time and it went away finally. He could also use calamine lotion or powder or Aloe Vera or Eucerin Calming Itch-Relief Treatment with cooling menthol.

If nothing works for him he should get that checked out at a dermatologist

I have these bumps on my middle finger?

On my middle finger, and on that finger only, I have had these red dots under the skin. I have had them for less than a week. They look exactly like the things my dad gets when he takes his shots for diabetes on the tip of his fingers, but I'm not pricking my self.

Its look like blood. Any ideas?

I have these bumps on my middle finger?
did you slam your finger in something?

What does your skin look like when you have scabies? does it look the same as when you have eczema?

i might have scabies, or eczema i 'm not sure. i have reddish-pinkish bumps that are in a cluster of about 2 inches wide, right before my bikini line starts, but only on my left side. But i also have a bit of it on my back, kind of above my left kidney, but those bumps are smaller and redder (and my mom has kind of the same thing except it's on the inside of her elbows and on her knees.) Any idea of what it could be? is it contagious? could i have gotten it from my mom?

What does your skin look like when you have scabies? does it look the same as when you have eczema?
Sounds alot like eczema, but scabies is very similar and highly contagious, would suggest u see a doctor.....quick

I have these bumps at the back of my arms.?

I read that it is some sort of skin disoder and there's no solution to remove them. However, my brother used to have them, but he doesn't anymore. He told me he constantly scrubbed the areas with soft body wash everytime he's in the shower. I try that, but it doesn't work, although they have been reduced. Any suggestions to completely remove them? Is it even possible?

I have these bumps at the back of my arms.?
i would say that this is a condition which will disappear as you get older but in the meantime, i suggest that you apply a general layer of aloe vera gel (or aloe vera juice with cotton wool) maybe 3 times a day.

you can buy an aloe vera plant locally if you prefer where you cut off small sections and apply.

internally, you can take cod liver oil or linseed on your food. all these help with inner lining

don't worry- obviously you can check it with your gp if you're not happy
Reply:Wait a few days. If they don't go away, go to the doctor to check them out.
Reply:Maybe, you have a shortage of Omega 3 fatty acids in your diet. I know when I don't eat enough fish I start up with some bumps. Of course scrubbing helps too but really check into your diet.
Reply:I have this too and I have tried the scrubbing and that hasn't helped. I have no idea. Sorry.

Sand grain-like bumps under my penis?

I have had these sandgrain looking white spots on the skin of my penis for a while now and but I have not gone to see a doctor. I have never had sex of any kind so I think it isn't any STD.

Sand grain-like bumps under my penis?
i have them also ... and have had it check out and a std test .. i have had them sence i was about 14 or 15... im 22 .. there not sores or open at all they dont bother me at all or ich or anything like that .. i have had quite a few girlfriends also and didnt seem to mind .. i just talked about it and explained and half of them seen it before on others... even been called pickle *ick by a couple of girls lol.. but for the peace of mind ask a doctor just so know for sure whats going on ...
Reply:is it on the foreskin? on the top? or on the sides?

if its on the sides, its normal.... it's called Dermatexofinadine Hyperoxaine.... it's more visible on people with darker skin pigmentation
Reply:nasir1991 may be right. The way you describe these things though, they sound like they could be warts....which is one thing you can technically get without intercourse. Keep an eye on them. If they get worse, then they are most likely warts. Warts can also go away though, so that's good news. In any case I doubt it's anything serious.
Reply:Do you shave down there? If so that might be what your feeling. My husband has that.
Reply:I have them too. I've heard that they are some kind of sweat gland. They've never caused me problems.
Reply:If its on the lower (like near the pubic hair) sides of the penis. Thats just some hair growing. No its not from masturbateing or anything. It just happens. Dont worry.

Can dehydration cause skin rash?

Late this evening, my head started itching like crazy. I took a shower earlier today, and I wasn't sweating nor had I been so I knew that wasn't the cause. It stopped on its own after awhile. About an hour later, my right lower leg began itching around what looked like a mosquito bite. Again, the itching stopped about 30-45 min later and because it looked like a mosquito bite, I didn't think both itching episodes were related . I went to bed and woke up an hour later itching all over and with mosquito bite-like bumps on my tummy, arms, face, back, neck, and legs. The bumps seem to grow or swell when I scratch. I haven't changed detergents, body soaps or lotions, no new meds or food and that's why I'm wondering if it's mild dehydration. Prior to this episode, my hands have been abnormally dry for weeks, and my lips are very chapped and red, as if I'm wearing tainted gloss. I'm making an appt tom. but I'd like opinions/info/suggestions for peace of mind! Thanks!

Can dehydration cause skin rash?
I think its coincidental . Dehydration is easy to detect. look at your veins in your arm. i

f they are not very visible your dehydrated.

it will take several days to get it back. drink water not fruit water not coffee not tea WATER.

The rash thing can be from low humidity in the house air.

just a thought look at your foods you eat. do you seee the words monosodium glutamate. MSG for short. you might have that allergy, good luck.
Reply:Dehydration will cause your skin to be dry and flaky and itches , just like what we call winter skin, and can also cause your sips to be very dry, chapped and red from the dryness, but the way you describe your symptoms, you have something systemic going on,, like an allergy. Another thought is bed bugs, I had to mention this because you was talking about the mosquito like bites. Please keep your appt.. something going on,, not just dehydration.. Good luck,

Razor burns and bumps. how at make them disapper!!!?

Ok so every time i shave my legs in the winter i get bad razor burn. and when i shave my bikini line..terrible razor bumbs for 1-5 days.( this is anytime) and also in the winter when i pluck my eyebrows, my skin gets chapped around my eyebrows. weird huh? any help would b oh-so greatful

take care!

Razor burns and bumps. how at make them disapper!!!?
Put lots of lotion of shea butter on your skin to sooth it. You usually have to wait a couple days for the bumps to dissapear.

Put conditioner on your legs or bikini line before you shave and it will make your shave a whole lot smoother and prevent razor burn. Also make sure your blade isn't dull and always use lots of moisturizer.

How do you get rid of razor bumps/ ingrowns..has bump patrol actually worked for anyone or tea tree oil??

is there anyway of preventing it..ive done the whole waxing thing and it really hurts...but whats worse is that it gave me soo many ingrowns..so how can i get smooth skin without all the irritation..(bikini zone doesnt work either...i use new razors everytime..so what is the problem!!...someone help please!)

anyone know why you get them in the first place??

How do you get rid of razor bumps/ ingrowns..has bump patrol actually worked for anyone or tea tree oil??
Well,I dont know Bizini Zone works for me. You shouldnt get a wax because it causes ingrown hairs..You should shave %26amp; it also doesnt hurt as bad.
Reply:tea tree oil can work , however there is a product called Tend Skin that you could buy at spas and online that is great. it stings a bit when you first put it on but NO BUMPS! its worth it.
Reply:Once I was wet-sanding something and using my knee to support it. The sandpaper had to go past the edge of the part, and it ended up sanding off the hair on a small area of my knee. It sort of scabbed up for a couple days, but when it healed it was as smooth as a baby's butt. It's still smoother than the area around it, even though the hair grew back.

.
Reply:Definately Bikini Zone. Beware of waxing though. If you are like me, very sensitive skin, you will still get irritated. I just use some Bikini Zone after I wax and no ingrowns or red bumps! There are other products that do what Binkini Zone does, but are made by different manufacturers. I think Sally Hansen makes one you can buy at the pharmacy. Maybe it is something in the ingredients.

I removed a tick from my skin about 4 months ago. the head came out but ive had an ithcy bump ever since.?

the bump isnt getting any better or worse. Is this normal?

I removed a tick from my skin about 4 months ago. the head came out but ive had an ithcy bump ever since.?
I think it is fairly normal. But it might be a good idea to have it checked by a doc anyway. It is possible a part of the tick didn't come out. If that is the case, it will eventually work it's way out.
Reply:That's normal. Just keep a watch on it and if it gets worse go see a doctor.
Reply:No, it isn't normal. Get a professional to look at it.

My bump is usually solid, but its just gone quite soft and I can grab the skin. This happened to anyone else?

I'm 34 wks gone today.

My bump is usually solid, but its just gone quite soft and I can grab the skin. This happened to anyone else?
It's probably because baby's head is engaging as he/she gets ready for birthtime (which can be aages before it comes so don't panic). My son engaged at 32 weeks and was 4 days late, but there was a definate 'drop' of the bump, which also made it go a bit softer, as he was more settled into the pelvis, rather than using your abdomen as his little raving room!! It makes eating easier again, and can stop heartburn and indigestion if you have it too. All just signs that it's coming to an end don't worry.

If you feel really concerned just give your midwife a ring or pop for a quick check :)
Reply:Im 31 weeks it could be the baby has his or her back up against your back. When they change positions this happens frequently to me..
Reply:The baby has probably just moved around and is more in your back area or has moved further down getting ready for delivery! bit early though.
Reply:Baby has probably moved into the pelvis and given you a little breathing room and skin stretching room.

As long as you feel the bump move once or twice a day, dont worry.
Reply:with all three of pregnancies mine did that i think it is normal and i think it is hard when the baby is pushed one way and soft when the baby is positioned another right now i am 28 almost 29 weeks and the baby still has decent room to move so mine will go hard to soft through out the day
Reply:The baby has dropped-it happens to us all.You should notice your lower tummy getting really tight instead. It's normal
Reply:the baby moves around making it hard where he is. Sometimes my baby would be on one side and i would be lopsided, lol. The soft area means that he is laying more inside you. As long as baby is moving as usual I would not panic

I have a bump on the left side of the head of my penis, it is skin colored, is this normal?

It is pretty small and doesn't really stick out that much but it is somewhat noticeable.

I have a bump on the left side of the head of my penis, it is skin colored, is this normal?
If it's always been there it may be a skin tag, a complication from circumcision.
Reply:Its not normal it may be herpies.
Reply:it is not normal it may be a wart you really need to have it checked hun
Reply:No it's not normal. It sounds like advanced cancer.

I had a bump form inside of my lower lip. It seems to be inside the skin.?

Is this something I need to be worried about, or is it just something that happens to everyone? I've never had something like this. I haven't bit my lip.

I had a bump form inside of my lower lip. It seems to be inside the skin.?
It is probably just an ulcer.

How do you know if a ticks head is still in under your skin?

Yesterday morning (friday) I woke up and while in the shower and saw something by my belly button. I felt it and then pulled it off when I looked at it and saw it had legs, being a girly girl I naturally screamed at the top of my lungs and droped it :) I realized it was a tick. I didnt think to check if the head came out, just plop dropped it right down! It was a little red yesterday, but besides being extremely grossed out, it didnt bother me. Today there is a big red bump where the tick was and the center is really hard. I dont see a black spot or anything, like people have been telling me to look for, or see anything that would be a "head". But it is really red and hard and its kinda itching me. How can I tell if the head is still under my skin? I dont see a hole or anything that I could even stick a needle in, but Im really grossed out and getting more freaked that there is a bug head in me by the minute! PLEASE HELP ME!!!! Any information would be great! Thanks!

How do you know if a ticks head is still in under your skin?
if it was a tick then when you pulled it off you life the head in you, light a match and hold it close to the spot were the tick was and if the head is still in there then it will come right out after a while
Reply:Have a doctor look at it, tick are really dangerous, if you get infected it can cause a lot of trouble!
Reply:okay, next time this happens use tweezers or a lighter bc you will rip the body off and leave the head just like you did this time....

i honestly think you should go to urgent care at the nearest clinic for this one.... they should be open on saturdays until at least 5p also.. hurry bc ticks have lyme disease and you should get yourself tested...

good luck
Reply:Get it checked out by a doctor it might be infected.

I had a TB skin test done yesterday. Today it is a little red, but there is no bump, what does this mean?

The area is pink, but in all that I have read it says you should be worried if there is a bump measuring larger then 10mm. Is it common to have redness at the sight of injection?

I had a TB skin test done yesterday. Today it is a little red, but there is no bump, what does this mean?
It means you need to wait the full 72 hours and get it read on schedule. It's common as dirt to have redness. We don't read the redness, that's insignificant. We're looking for induration.
Reply:Yeah. Like it says, no bump, no worries.

Everyone reacts to shots and tests differently. Don't worry about it.
Reply:Redness is normal for a day or two. If there is no bump you are negative.
Reply:You must wait 72 hours to have the test read. At this point, redness is meaningless.
Reply:I do the same thing every year. I'm allergic to the protein medium that it is in. There has to be an actual bump for it to be positive.
Reply:i would not worry about it at this point. the redness is from the needle mark.
Reply:It means ur totally healthy.

Does any one know a home remedy for lump (possibly pimple) under the skin?

The doctor checked the bump/lump on my husbands neck and said it's probably only an ingrown hair.

It's been bugging him for about 2 months.

It is under the skin, red and has a sort of hard spot in the middle. (it doesn't come to a head)

Ginger hot compress will draw it out. 1-2 drops of lavender oil.

Huge bump beside my nose, either zit or bug bite, it's under the skin and hurts...help....?

It could be either a pimple or a bug bite, I think it's a bug bite because it's so big and it hurts, any advice

Huge bump beside my nose, either zit or bug bite, it's under the skin and hurts...help....?
Cold water or ice it will help with the swelling. If it turns out to be a pimple it will get a head and then u can pop it and use rubbing alcohol
Reply:i have this ****** little bump under my nose but it doesnt have a head or anything but when i touch it ****** hurts like a pimple or sumthin but its under the skin sum 1 tell me wtf is it!!!!!! Report It

Reply:Put tons of proactive on it. Perhaps a couple gallons. If you suspect it's a bug bite, keep scratching at it so it will get scared and runaway.
Reply:put alcohol on it and do not squeeze it!!!!!
Reply:its a zit. dont pop it..cuz you really cant. put any acne cream with benzoyl peroxide in it on it. it should go down in a few days
Reply:It could be a clogged pore ... but if it doesn't go away after a few acne treatments ... you may want to have you family doctor check on that for you. It could possibly be a form of cancer. Possibly a Mast Cell Tumor. Please, take care of it and don't procrastinate on your health.
Reply:sounds like acne to me. read tips on acne treatments and more on skincare on this site
Reply:it could be any of the above, it has the earmarks (nose marks?) of an ingrown hair due to clogged pore. If you dare take care with tweezers it will be painful, sanitize with rubbing alcohol prior to and after and do wash face often.

this is only a suggestion not intended to be remedy, consult a physician if excessive bleeding occurs, half your face goes numb, current swelling enlarges. eyes bulging out,or growing another nose.

I have this bump on my bottom eyelid its the color of my skin and its not a stye i had it for 3 yrs & no pain?

I have this bump on my bottom eyelid its the color of my skin and its not a stye i had it for 3 yrs %26amp; no pain?
could be a granuloma? if its on the eyelid it can cause the cornea to dry as the eyelid doesnt shut all the way?
Reply:It's probably a benign skin tag. Some feel that these are caused from too much cholesterol in the system, but they could just pop up for no reason.

If you are concerned about it, visit a doctor. These skin tags can be easily removed by a doctor, if you feel you want it removed. Otherwise, don't worry about it. Unless it is a vanity issue, leave it alone.

I've had a few for several years. They seem to go down and then, at times, swell again. But, they do not cause any problems and my doctor has informed me of the facts.

Itchy skin irritation on my maltese?

i have had my maltese now for a year now.

since we had him he had some small skin problem.

when his fur is shorter he doesn't get it this. i mean i don't notice it but i mean it can be too irrelevant.

he gets these small rash like bump like things on his side and just above his tail. when i am there with my fingers and he likes it as he tries to scratch it so it must be quite itchy for him.

could it be the heat? is his fur getting to long?

he goes to the groomers every 2-3 weeks but it's getting worse and more i find.

what do u all think?

thanks

Itchy skin irritation on my maltese?
Sounds like hot spots. This can be caused by lots of things including allergies. Try a good medicated shampoo/conditioner that your Veterinarian reccomends. Also a mild dose of liquid benedryl will help. You will have to use an eyedropper to give it to your malti. I had a poodle with a very similar condition. This is what I did for her. It helped a lot! :)
Reply:Diet allergies.
Reply:you might want to take him and get him tested for allergies. a vet can get you special food if your dog does have allergies.
Reply:go to the health food store and buy a little bag of nutritional yeast and put it on his food. he'll like the taste and for some reason it helps dogs with skin allergies/issues.

he MIGHT be allergic to whatever they're using at the dog groomers. or the grass outside if he rolls around on it.
Reply:Take him to the vet. Not enough detail to tell what it is form this. If it's itchy, possibly he's allergic to something or maybe poison ivy? Does he play outside somewhere where something may harm him? It's probably something in your yard rrather than your house.

But take him to the vet and have him checked out. They will tell you what is wrong and help him get better. You don't want your poor dog to keep suffering, do you?
Reply:Take him to the vet and they can give him so medicine. Hey could you help me a little go to friends and relatrionships and answer my question about we are cvlose and we wnt to make love but Thanks

Kane
Reply:More than likely food issues...

Try changing diet with consult from a vet...
Reply:I think you need to take him to the vet. It might be a skin disorder, or it might be a reaction to whatever the groomer is using.
Reply:use a product called skin remedy on it you bath the dog then put skin remedy on for 10 minutes then rinse then dry Mr.cystals will work as well. as dogs get older they no longer produce a chemical that helps there skin thus the reason for the special shampoos most groomers will have these shampoos for sale for use there or between visits
Reply:Awwwwwww! How CUTE!....... I love little dogs. I would take the little baby to the vet or get him some over-the-counter skin cream. If he doesnt get better than go online and buy him some really good ointment. But make sure a medium size bodle of it is a little more than like 30$ or 40$ don't go cheap cause it might not work. I hope he feels better~~~~~~
Reply:He could be allergic to the shampoo they use, or they may not rinse him well enough. Learn to groom your Maltese yourself, as you will avoid high costs and faulty groomers that don't care much for the health of your dog.

It is not very hard.
Reply:if wheat or soy are in his food, go to a pet supply store and get a good quality food. i changed all of my dogs to CANIDAE about 1 yr ago and all itchys and hot spots are GONE. i didn't know about wheat or soy until my shephard developed diabetes and i had to do some research.
Reply:just to ease the discomfort try giving the him abath with avenno its oatmeal and that will give him some comfort other wise i would recomend taking him to the vet and see what allergies he may have it could be something in his diet or somthing on the bedding where he sleeps causeing him to itch
Reply:My yorkie has the same thing. Vet said it was like "puppy acne" so it itches/burns like human acne would. Now I use medicated shampoo (ChlorHex 2x 4% by Vedco) and she gets a nutritional supplement on her food (DermaPet's EicosaDerm). It's not a pill, it's a bottle with a pump on the end, I just put it on her food once a day- she LOVES the taste. Sometimes the acne can get infected, which has happened to us three time now and she is only 1.5 yrs old. If it is really red around the area, it might be infected. Vet give anitbiotics and an antiseptic spray that smells a lot like rubbing alcohol. Probably need to see a vet, because most of what we use can only be bought through a vet.
Reply:It may be the shampoo they are using... plus it dries out their skin to be at the groomers every 2 to 3 weeks... try letting a little time go in between.

Do you brush him a lot? Sometimes they can get brush burn from over grooming.

How long have you been feeding him the food he is on... you say it has been a small problem since you have had him... maybe it is the food. What do you feed him?
Reply:I agree with everyone else that you should change his food, also I hope he is not getting a bath every 2 weeks when you take him to the groomer? If they are bathed too much, the skin will dry out....Maltese have sensitive skin, so you may have to try a few changes until you figure it out
Reply:not enough info it could be anything...but you could be washing him too much %26amp; drying out his skin.
Reply:Hello:

I think your having him groomed to often, pehaps the shampoo the groomer is using is to strong for him, also the cream rinse if they use it, are they rinsing him well, that can be a big problem where dry skin is involved. You can try also adding a little high quality olive oil in his food, I have had excellent results with this. These are just a few things I can suggest you look in to. Good Luck

Is picking pimples bad for your skin?

I have a friend that is always picking pimples, on her face, arms, chest. Even if it not a pimple just a small red bump she is picking it. I tell her that she should stop because it will mess up her skin. but she is compulsive about it. It drives me crazy, cause she does it all the time, even around other friends, in public. How can I give her information about what the effects are when you pick your skin? I just don't want her skin to have scars or long term damage.

Is picking pimples bad for your skin?
Tell her they scar!!!
Reply:on occasion popping pimples is ok..but if she does it all the time for every pimple then it isnt good at all. do you have any idea how much bacteria is on your hands, even if you wash them constantly. it could make the blemish worse or they are going to scar or bruise and sometimes it will make a little hole. now if telling her that she could get a bunch of little holes in her face doesnt make her stop, then i dont know what will.
Reply:tell her that pimples are where the army gets land mines from and if she picks them she might blow up.
Reply:She probably realizes it and doesn't care. I've known people like that.

Picking at it causes a scar which takes a lot longer to heal than a plain pimple going away on it's own.

You could suggest that she use Benzoyl Peroxide. It helps keep the pimples away and heals scarring really fast.
Reply:Picking pimples can leave a scare and it could also cause a very bad infection and sometimes blood poisoning.
Reply:It is bad to pick at pimples or other bumps on the skin, can cause infection and scaring. She may have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and can't stop doing it.
Reply:It is very bad for your skin. It leaves scares
Reply:Most of the time it bad because you spread whatever is inside them around and it get the skin around the pimple rough and bumpy. I would tell her just to use a luffa in the shower, put lotion on and wash her face 2 times a day. I do all that and I have flawless, healthy skin.
Reply:Tell her to stop! She doesn't see the damage now cause she is young, but as you get older pimples popped and picked at leave ugly scars. Trust me I used to get them! Not only does picking pimples cause scars, but touching your face causes more pimples. Pimples are caused by bacteria you know!

She should try Noxzema Triple Clean Lathering Cleanser and the Triple Clean SA Pads. They dry up pimples and prevent new ones from coming! It fades Acne and Acne scars!!!

Tell her to drink lots of water and always wash her hands!!!!
Reply:The more you pick your skin the bacteria you are putting in your skin. Take some video of her doing it and then show her how bad it looks.

Do you know anything about skin cancer?

I have my own tanning bed at my house. I use to tan way too much sometimes twice a day. But here latly, I have only been tanning about everyother day. My question is that two days ago, I got out of the tanning bed, I noticed a little red bump appearing, I blew it off like it was a pimple or something but it is more like a blister now. My aunt has skin cancer from tanning she said that the doctor told her your body can only hold so much color, then it does like an overflowing cup, and that is when you start to get skin cancer. Does anyone know anything about skin cancers? I tried to google it but there are so meny kinds and all the pictures looked different.

Do you know anything about skin cancer?
I didn't think you could get skin cancer from tanning beds, I thought it was only from direct sunlight.

But I don't tan so I'm definetly not an expert.

Here's a couple of informative artcles I was able to find on the net regarding skin cancer.

I do know that out of all the cancers, skin cancer is the easiset one to treat and survive from.

Reply:pls try yahoo first.. but yes pls get checked out. skin blisyers, moles can all be signs of cancer or something harmless
Reply:go to a doctor asap !!!!!! if it is cancer than the sooner u know the better. and stop tanning so much . u will look 50 when u r 30.
Reply:Hi ! I believe any cancer is no better than any desease. Why take chances ? Go to Florida for your skin tanning if you can afford to stay in sun. Nature always give you what you want but you have to believe it and do it accordingly.

Any unnatual thing you do to your body is absolutely not acceptable by the nature of law.

For your information only:

Anyway there is one medicine for treating a skin cancer and the name is " Thalodomide " made by Celgene Corporation of NJ.

Doing any unnatural things to your body is not the best way to live. Thanks

Skin growth around my nose ring?

I got my nose pierced and it's been almost 3 months. Recently i noticed a skin growth around my piercing. The growth is red, and with time it just becomes dry. Today while i was cleaning my piercing i noticed a yellow liquid and blood coming out of it. i tried removing the ring but when i move the ring the bump gets bigger.

Im really worried that if i remove the ring it will grow bigger.

Skin growth around my nose ring?
The bump may have been a granuloma caused by trauma to the area. Do you remember knocking it or pulling it? They are fleshy-whitish bumps that develop due to that trauma and do get bigger without the proper care. They do weep and often bleed.

Here's what worked for me to get rid of mine (it behaved almost exactly like yours did, but I caught it early). Twice a day I would first boil some water and pour it on a washcloth, and once it has cooled enough for you to stand, hold it onto the piercing. That helps the granuloma release it's fluid and shrink. Then, also twice a day after I did the hot compress, I would dab on sea salt water onto the bump. Then I would take DRY sea salt and stick it to the bump (the water acts as an adhesive). Then go do something else! Watch TV, read...but leave it on for at least a half an hour before wiping it off with a cotton bud dipped in salt water. Then, leave it alone. The salt dries it out after that compress release of fluid and helps it heal. Mine healed completely after doing this for about three weeks.

Don't stress, be diligent, and it'll go away with time and care. Good luck!
Reply:Twice a day, dab your piercing with Tea Tree Oil. It will help heal your piercing, fight the infection and keep you from developing a Keloid. I have tried Hydrogen Peroxide, Rubbing Alcohol, Polysporin and Neosporin. None of these worked. Once I started using Tea Tree Oil, my piercing healed quickly. You can buy Tea Tree Oil at most drug stores and health food stores. It's a natural anitseptic.
Reply:Ah, the dreaded bump.. I had it too... I used warm water mixed with sea salt (find it at a grocery store) and soaked the bump with it for like 5 minutes in the morning and at night.. eventually, the bump dried out and disappeared, or you can kind of pick the dead skin off.. :)

I have been trying this regimen for my skin since 11/19 give or take a couple days...?

The 1st wk: my skin looked like it was going on the blessed path to clear. But on the 2nd wk I got a major pimple on my cheek. 3rd week-this week- my left cheek has a bump, my right cheek has a bump, my face feels soft but its so red and I just don't think I can handle this. Im going to see my male friend on 12/26 and I've already bought the ticket. Will my skin get a LITTLE better??? I only have 2 weeks. I have been washing w/cetaphil/applying witch hazel/applying BP to my zits 2x daily/applying Vit A%26amp;D pills on my problem spots/alternating baking soda/clay masks every 3-4 days/applying vit E lotion. Garlic/proactiv/acnefree didnt work on my face and I dont have a dermatology appointment until Feb.Am I doing good or am I wasting my time?

I have been trying this regimen for my skin since 11/19 give or take a couple days...?
it sounds like you may be doing a little to much and irritating it. also they always say it gets worse before it gets better. your skin is pulling all the pimples and things to the surface right now because you are using all of those prodcuts. so after you get of the problem areas that you have right now it should clear up. i know it can be so frusterating i use to have the same problem. i tried everything from the whole clinque line to laser treatments nothing worked... until finally my dr. put me on birth control i havent had a problem since. that could be something you might want to check into. i dont know how old you are or if your parents would approve but it changed my life! good luck!

Skin irritation but i dont think its allergies?
You should get yourself checked out by a doctor.

I suffer from multiple allergies and this sounds exactly like what I have now - several years ago I suddenly started getting itchy rashes on my neck, upper arms, chest and upper back. Then the rashes went to my face!

I tried noni pills (made from the Hawaiian noni fruit) and they helped somewhat - the rashes have stopped appearing on my arms, neck and back. However, the rash on my face still won't go away.

I am now using a cream called "DERMOVATE" for this condition. However it has to be prescribed as it's a steroid cream. This is why I encourage you to see a doctor to get yourself checked out. You might even discover what exactly it is in your environment that is causing the allergy.

And yes, it's probably an allergy, or a buildup of toxins in your system that is causing your immune system to react this way (i.e. rashes).

The condition is called "cholinergic urticaria". In 70% of the cases, the cause is never found out, but still, it's worth a try. You can get a patch test done by an allergy specialist, which is what I'm doing now.

If you leave it unchecked, your condition could get worse. In my case, I was hospitalised just a couple of weeks ago because I got a sudden bout of asthma coupled with severe rashes and facial swelling. Until now, I don't even know what caused it.
Reply:Could be you have been infected with scabies...Your doctor will give you some stuff to treat your whole body.
Reply:Check out a site called exederm.com maybe there is a irritant in some of the products you currently use - they have ultra hypoallergenic stuff for really sensitive skin the wash %26amp; cream is good

How Can I loose post-baby tummy skin naturally?

I have lost all off my baby wieght and more (I had my daughter 4 months ago)....I was just wondering how to loose that little bit of extra skin over my lower stomach. It's not sagging just a little bit of a bump, but when I sit down it becomes a little roll....nasty! I know I have to have realistic expectations for my post-baby body but does anyone have any advice? My friend told me it took her skin a year to tighten up....is there any truth in that?

How Can I loose post-baby tummy skin naturally?
Its genetics. It takes time for your body to do all it can and will do. Just keep your skin healthy (lotion and clean) and it will pull into shape as time goes on.
Reply:It will take some time. Try sit-ups. You need to face the fact that you might NEVER be back to the way you were before...sorry.

Skin issues? Please only people who know alot about skin!?

Hey well i have a skin problem. I'm not exactly ugly, but my bad skin detracts from the rest of my face. I have little tiny, coarse bumps around my nose and in between my eyebrows, bumps under the skin pretty much everywhere (they aren't red, don't turn into pimples and aren't blackheads), i have small red pimples on my chin and eyebrows, i have humungous pores and my face is pretty blothchy.

i use a cleanser, toner and oil free moisturiser twice daily. the only face makeup i wear is tinted spot cream. i use an exfoliant twice a week and tea tree oil every night.

please people who know about skin, please advise me what i'm doing wrong, what i should do, how to cover up, inexpensive treatments and a PERMANENT SOLUTION.

thankyou so, so, so much.

Skin issues? Please only people who know alot about skin!?
Try cutting back on the face products you use, its possible that you are over cleansing your face stripping your skin of all the oils. It is a common misconception that removing all the oil from your face will make it better but it actually makes it worse because you skin is going to over produce oil causing more pimples. Also exfoliating for me caused break outs, so you might want to cut but to using it only once a week because it can irritate the skin. Its really all about what is causing your skin to breakout and why it is the way it is. Your best bet would be to make an appointment with a dermatoligist and have them tell you what would work best. There is one product that really works for me and my sisters that I really suggest is Karin Herzog Vita-a-Kombi 2. It works by killing the p. bacteria that causes acne. Only problem is it is sort of expensive ($54 a jar) and you can only get it online although some dermatologist have it. I hope you find an answer for healthier skin :D
Reply:To be honest with you, I have bad acne caused from my Chrones Disease. Ive tried all the cleaners and treatments. You should really go see a dermatologist before you take the advice of people that dont know you. Ive wasted countless dollars on products that were supposed to clear me up, but diddnt. Research before you buy! My best advice!
Reply:Irratants.

Number one, Switch to all Hypo-Allergenic washes, and moisterizes,

Number 2,Apricot scrub

Number 3

NOTHING WITH ALCOHOL......

number 4, Seriously make an appointment with a local dermatoligist,, They can perscribe creams that can do wonders,

Also use COLD water to wash your face, Ease up on the oil, Use a night time moisterizer, And try a mask, Such as banana,,,

This is coming from a skin cancer survivor, hope i helped
Reply:Try using pure and natural products. If you don't want to splurge on pricer products like Arbonne. Switch over to Burts Bee - if things don't improve over about 2-3 weeks see your doctor.

Before you use a hydrating wash try a wash cloth (heat in micro) and apply and repeat.

Wash, toner and a spf day cream. Apply acne cream as you need it.

At night repeat - wash, toner and night cream.

Exfoliate only twice a week on a clean face.

and a mask once a week on a clean face not on the same days.

The wash cloth application should help the black heads and open your pores.

Increase water

Skin Problems? Please Help?

My skin actually wasn't that bad...

But all of a sudden one night I was washing my face, and I got ALOT of these small tiny bumps everywhere on my forehead all in like 10 seconds. At first I thought it was some allergic reaction to something... But the bumps are NOT going away, and its been a while now. At thought they were pimples, but now i'm kinda thinking its not... and then right now, I still have the tiny bumps AND my skin is drying/peeling, and whenever i use ANYTHING on it, ANY kind of lotion it stings.... and burnss and gets really red... and the redness won't go away... is there anyway to get rid of the redness and tiny bumps? And cure my face peeling/drying???

HELPPP?!

Skin Problems? Please Help?
This sounds more like an allergen from something you started using at or about the same time as your first noticing the bumps. I would first check to see if you are using any new cleaning products from the soap you were using on your face to the soap used to watch your wash-cloth.

If you cannot find anything new in this period of time, I would go to a dermatologist or skin doctor. I had taken my skin 'condition' to my 'normal' doctors and was diagnosed wrong twice. It was only when I figured it out by asking a question on YA that I insisted on being referred to a dermatologist. Now I know what I have and I know how to clear it up.

I hope this helps.
Reply:go see your doctor or dermatologist immediately!
Reply:Fungus maybe, keep it clean.

Red bumps, and irritated bikini shave?

well, when i shave my "down there" i almost always get red bumps and my skin get super irritated..i am going on vacotion and will be wearing a bikini most of the time...sooo what can i do to get rid of all the bumps and pain after shaving? i don't get this anywhere else just on my downstairs, bcuz my skin is really sensitive!! how can i reduce the razor burn and get rid of the redness and bumps? like what creams could i use or like shave gel or what!?!? thanks for your answers!!

Red bumps, and irritated bikini shave?
change ur razor!
Reply:keep exfoliating the area. what i found helps is waxing, painful but it works so much better as when the hairs have been pulled out and grow back they are softer so therefore cut down on the amount of ingrown hairs.
Reply:i would hold off on shaving 4 awhile bcuz if u do it 2 often then the bumps will begin 2 bleed but the bumps r TOTALLY normal so dont worry but i use bikini zone anti bump shave gel

hope this helps : ]

Weird bump under skin...?
it's a cyst.

do not pop it!

it can be painful and it can push the puss deeper into the skin.

they will go away eventually.

if it doesn't go away or gets worse, i would visit a dermatologist.

i apply terminator 10 (by acnefree) to mine and it makes them appear less visible.
Reply:mhm very possible try and pop it maybe or ask your doctor
Reply:its prolly a zit but it just hasnt surfaced to ur face yet...wait a couple days try and pop and it and a bunch of nastygoo wil come out
Reply:ya i think i no what it is i think its a cyst or as the other people have said a zit

It may just be a pimple. You can get them down there, too. If so, it'll go away within two weeks.

Bump Removed - Why is my skin purple?

I had a small bump removed a year and a half ago on my leg. It wasn't serious, but I kept cutting it while shaving my legs, and it was unsightly. I went to a leading Plastic Surgeon to have the bump removed. The bump itself was a purplish color, and thought to have been caused by a mosquito bite that didn't heal properly. It was like extra scar tissue. Once he removed it, the skin underneath was also purple. He told me because it was on my leg, it would take a very long time to heal. Apparently, the further the "injury" is from the heart, the longer it takes to recover correctly. Also, the bump was located not on a fleshy part of the leg, but more so over the bone. Therefore, less blood/flesh to assist with the healing process. Well, here we are a year and a half later. The scar has always been smooth, but I am waiting for it to be closer to my skin color. I called his office twice, and they welcomed me in. But, they assured me it was nothing to worry about.

Bump Removed - Why is my skin purple?
If your plastic surgeon isn't worried, he's the expert.

Ask him why the skin is still purple - it just might be a residual colouration that you'll have for the rest of your life (other people have it worse)

If you want to cover it up, use makeup.
Reply:I had a few warts removed, and the same thing happened. What you're doc said about it being far fromt he heart and all that is true. It varies from person to person as to how long it will be this way. Seriously, nothing to worry about!

Bumps on my nose...not red, not acne, not blackheads, not whiteheads..what?

Hello.

In late middle school I started getting big pimples on my nose and i would get rid of them by putting hot water and ice on them or by popping them. But when they developed the third time the pimples never fully developed. Now I just have a bunch of skin colored (not red or whatever) bumps on my nose. They do not burn, itch or hurt at all, just plain old bumps. They are not developing pimples since I am not 23 years old and these have been around since I was about 15. I know it doesn't take 8 years for a pimple to grow! I don't know how to get rid of these bumps, I've tried all kinds of acne medications but I realize now that its not acne. They aren't whiteheads or blackheads and aren't red. They are just bumps under the skin that look like developing pimples but they won't go away. Please help I've tried everything I don't know how to get rid of these bumps. I would go to a dermatologist but it costs too much for even a consultation and I do not have that kind of money.

Bumps on my nose...not red, not acne, not blackheads, not whiteheads..what?
You need to stop playing with this and get a professional opinion from a dermatologist—work out a payment plan, go to a clinic, or see what a local medical school has to offer..
Reply:seek a consult with a laser hair removal type person. They specialize in other things like your face and roscea and photofacial laser treatment, etc. They usually always give free consults. They might be able to tell you what it is and even treat it. These folks are trained on skin conditions as well. Good luck.
Reply:without seeing them, it sounds like milia. hard white bumps...that dont pop?? milia is small tho...so not sure.

i would go to a medical spa and ask....most are free consults.

Large White Bumps on my Chin that are NOT pimples or zits?!?!?

I get these hard, very painful white raised bumps on my chin. The first time I tried popping it, thinking it was a pimple. I felt like there was a little tiny hole in the center of the large bump in which maybe pus or acne could come out. Indeed, I finally, after a STRUGGLE, popped it and just a little whiteness and pus came out.

However, the bump on my chin remained raised. It would not go away. I tried popping more of it, although nothing would come out. Eventually, I played with it too much and an entire layer of my skin came off, looking like a huge ugly gremlin, as I like to call it. I put a bandaid on my chin until it healed 1 1/2 weeks later.

Now, I have two raised bumps on my skin and I don't want huge ugly gremlins anymore so I dont try to pop them. However, I still have huge, ugly, painful white bumps on my skin that definitely are not pimples or zits. What is going on? What are these things? How do I treat it?

Large White Bumps on my Chin that are NOT pimples or zits?!?!?
my sister had this problem not too long ago. Don't pop them, eventually they'll start bleeding. Try some kind of acne wash containing sacrylic acid.

Painful red bump on skin?

i have a small red bump on my face that really hurts when i touch it. i don't think its a zit, because zits never hurt this much. its swollen and elevated.

i was wondering what this could be.

Can I cure this skin problem on my nose without surgery? I'm in Florida. It's a common ailment here.

First, it was a "bleeder." Then a bump. Then skin roughed up further on the nose. I know doctors around here like to cut and chop on those, but are there any alternatives? They say it's skin cancer and if I don't have surgery on it now and then I might die. Well, why don't people in other locations get it, then?

Can I cure this skin problem on my nose without surgery? I'm in Florida. It's a common ailment here.
They do get skin cancers. Especially in coastal areas. My mother and step-father have both had cancers removed from their forearms. Both are avid fishermen and spend a lot of time on the water in the sun. As far as I know they really have to remove the cancerous cells from your skin to prevent further growth and spreading. Removing plugs (as they call it) is generally considered the best means of doing this when dealing with skin cancer, I don't think they'd waste their time with any other treatment since removal would solve the problem and the meds and procedures associated w/ cancer treatment are not very good for us to use unnecessarily. Spending as much time in the sun w/o appropriate coverage and block re-applied as needed skin cancer is part of the risk you take living where you are. Just like learning protecting oneself from frostbite and hypothermia in Minnesota in the winter is part of living there.
Reply:my dad had the samething right above his mouth and IT WAS skin cancer. You need to have it removed ASAP! People in every state get skin cancer.

Bumps on my skin?

im begining to get little bumps on my face, not acne but little bumps..

what can i do to get rid of them?

Bumps on my skin?
Bumps can be caused by make up, dry skin and if you have them around your nose it's called black heads.Wash your face 2 times a day and apply mosturizer after each time and especially at night.Try dove mosturizer, it works super well and is not that expensive.
Reply:See your dermatologist to get a proper diagnosis.
Reply:little bumps... black heads.. whiteheads, pimple all r acne...

(but they dont ich or pain a lottttttttt)... all these happens when open pore on your skin start collecting dirt, make up, oils etc... keep your skin clean...

Bumps on my skin??

ok, so as long as i can remember ive had these tiny little bumps along the sides of my cheeks, you cant see them and theyre not itchy or anything, jsut bumps, ive tried many different products and at first it will make them go away but after about a week of using it the bumps will just come back.....any suggestions?

Bumps on my skin??
Yes, make an appointment with a dermatologist.
Reply:i used to have that on my arm. just ask your doctor and they'll recommend a cream. thats what they did 4 me anyway.
Reply:You should likely visit a dermatologist. It seems that these aren't moles or freckles or any kind of permanent skin formations the way you're describing them. I'm guessing you might have some kind of skin sensitivity or allergy.

What color, texture, size, quantity of bumps do you have????
Reply:It sounds like they are whiteheads. I had a roommate from college who had the same problem and decided to invest in the Clarisonic brush after nothing else worked. It costs $195, but she says it is the best investment and only product that has ever got rid of all her whiteheads. They even have a 30-day money back guarantee. I personally bought one a few months ago and love it! It makes your skin feel very clean and refreshed, and I've found that it lessens the appearance of scars quicker than using facial peels.
Reply:if you had them since birth like i have on my thighs and arms, then you will never get rid of them. if you starting seeing this around teenage years, then maybe a dermatologist would know the answer.
Reply:girl thats sound just like me i used to have those bumps too. well i used this one cream called madrma (i think that is how it is spelled) so girl if that does not work i don't know!?
Reply:I had the same problem. I forget what it's called. Visit your dermatologist. They'll give you a cream, my skin eventually stopped responding to the cream and you have to use it every day or else it will come back.
Reply:go to the doctor

My water/land small turtle has bumps on skin and the skin peels off. What is this? Is this supposed 2 happen?

Skin shedding:

A little peeling occasionally is fine. Turtles shed their skin like other reptiles, but more continuously. Mine usually shed more for a while, then less or not at all. As long as the shed sking is thin and tranlucent, and you don't see anything unusual on the skin, and the shedding is not excessive, don't worry. If the shedding is continuous, or the skin looks sore or red, or the shedding is very heavy, you may have to deal with a skin fungus. Have your turtle checked by a veterinarian. You may also soak the turtle in an idodine solution twice a day for 15 minutes and keep it warm and dry outside the water overnight for a while.

My water/land small turtle has bumps on skin and the skin peels off. What is this? Is this supposed 2 happen?
Yes, it is very normal. The skin will shed as the turtle grows. It usually takes about 3-4 weeks for a complete shed, but often you will see remnants. It's nothing to worry about.

Remember to keep the water clean or else, the poor water quality will make the shedding take longer and possibly cause infection or fungus (smelly and mushy). Flakey skin itself is quite normal growth process.
Reply:First and most important- identify the turtle properly and find out the right care!

For example, if it is a land turtle, like a box turtle and you are keeping it like a water turtle, that will do it easily!

Try the galleries and care sheets at the sites below for guidance.

Some turtles have bumpy skin, and most turtles shed to some extent so it might not be a big deal... but it really concerns me that you don't seem to know the species.

Check out Dermalogica they sort of specialise in these things. Just have to go on their website and find your local salong for your dermatologist and they will get your 'face mapped' for you and reccomend what products to use.

Worked for me so hope it works for you =] x
Reply:The dermatologist they reccomend will have the Dermalogica products or they wouldn't be on their website.

You can buy their products much cheaper on jerseybeautycompany.co.uk ,which is where I got mine from, much cheaper, free delivery and samples! x Report It

Reply:I think you have just plain old white heads and they go with time, I'm talking years here.

You must have an allergy to something new. Have you started using anything new lately? That may be why
Reply:Could be heat rash or winter skin itch depending on your location. Possible solution: moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!!
Reply:Try some Benedryl capsules, the ones without dyes. It should help, but be prepare to be sleepy as it does put you to sleep, but your skin should be better when you wake. Just make a list afterwards of what you eat and put on your skin.

Small red bumps on skin but its not chicken pox?

i know its not chicken pox, i just dont know i it could be an allergic reaction to something like a new lotion or a new soap?

Small red bumps on skin but its not chicken pox?
It's the latest viral mad bird infection. Good luck.
Reply:Could be allergies or razor burn. It also could be severely dry skin. Go to a doctor!!!
Reply:Could be, but it might be hives
Reply:I asked my doctor about red bumps on my skin, around the inside of the arm and behind the knees, and she said it could be skin allergies. People who don't normally have allergies are getting light symptoms this year. Hydrocortazone (sp??) cream helps reduce the red bumps.
Reply:I have the same thing on my arms and stomach and back.Try not to scratch because they spread.I know they itch like crazy, but try the hydrocortizone cream. It could be lichen planus.
